Myssyjen aika - Time for hats

I still take chemo hats for the chemo ward in the Vaasa central hospital. I'm going to give the next batch at the beginning of November. This week I picked up a bag of hats from Pirjoliisa, they were made by Rantapuikko.

Lisäksi sain ihanan itse tehdyn rannekorun kortin kera:

The hats are lovely! I have to start making them again myself too. I also got two skeins of Puro Batik and a bracelet together with a card:

Sitten toiseen projektiin: en tiedä oletteko kuulleet Sky Scarf -projektista.

Then about another project: the Sky scarf project. The idea is to knit according to the color of the sky, two rows a day. I joined the project at the beginning of September, and here's how far I've knitted:

Kudon kaksinkertaisella langalla, joten on mahdollista käyttää kahta väriä per päivä.

I use two yarns, so it's possible to have two colors a day. I check the sky around noon, and take the two most dominant colors. I started with garter stitch, but decided to change to ribbing to mark the change of month. As you can see, some days have been quite gray and rainy, but there is some blue in between too.

Suklaasydän - Chocolate heart

Olen jo kauan halunnut tehdä itselleni mukavan, yksinkertaisen villatakin. Ohje löytyi USA:n matkalla ostamastani Knit Scene -lehdestä, ja langat löytyivät Tallinnan reissulta. Takki valmistui parissa viikossa, ja olen lopputulokseen tyytyväinen. Napitkin löytyivät omasta varastosta.

I've wanted to knit myself a simple, comfortable cardigan for a long time. I found a suitable pattern from a Knit scene magazine and I bought the yarn this summer on my trip to Tallinn. I started it a couple of weeks ago and now it's finished already! I'm happy with the result. I even got the buttons from my own stash.

I changed the number of stitches a little bit and made it a bit longer than it was in the pattern, but otherwise I followed the pattern quite strictly. It was super easy and nice to knit, I liked both the pattern and the yarn (which is so soft, a mix of alpaca and bamboo).

I made myself a pair of ankle socks on the same skein of Step as for my boyfriend. Here they are next to our tomatoes.

Yarn: Austermann Step
Needles: 2½ mm
Consumption: 41 g

I finished the last shawl for our 2011 scarf/shawl challenge. It was also one of my own designs. If anyone is interested in the pattern, I'm planning to write it down soon.

Sitten siihen arvoitukseen...Tietääkö kukaan, mihin haasteeseen tällä tekeleellä aion osallistua?

Then a question... Can anyone guess what challenge I'm participating in with this?

Mansikkasaari

I haven't usually blogged about our scarf project on this blog, but this time I thought I'd make an exception. It's my first attempt at designing my own pattern. I'm quite happy with it; it's quite simple with stockinette and garter stitch and a simple lace pattern. I think the yarn goes quite well together with the pattern.

Needles: 4 mm
Consumption: 110 g

The shawl is named according to the place where I started designing and making it. I'm knitting another shawl with my own pattern already, it's quite addictive thinking about different patterns and trying them out...

Grannies together

Our joint project this summer is finally finished. We got this photographed today in all its colorfulness. We (three friends/colleagues) crocheted this grannie square afghan for a colleague who is retiring this autumn. Each of us did 16 squares and we did the joining together. Our principle with the colors was to use almost any other color than black, brown or grey. The squares themselves were quickly finished, the joining and hiding the ends and crocheting the edge took a little longer. We joined the squares using this method. It's really quick and easy, and looks good too.

Valmista peittoa katsellessa oli vaikea valita, mikä oli meidän suosikkineliö. Olisiko se tämä?
Looking at the finished afghan it was difficult to pick our favourite. Is it this one?

Vai jompikumpi näistä?
Or either one of these?

Vaiko kenties tämä?
Or perhaps this?

Miau!

My godson got his wish when he got this amigurumi cat. He's been asking me to "sew" him a cat for a while.
